    Eckhard Kopetzki, percussion

    EEckhard Kopetzki was born in 1956 in Hannover/Germany. He studied to teach music and physics at the University of Osnabrück. This was followed by a study at Hochschule für Musik/Würzburg with Walter Heise. Since 1985 he teaches Harmony and Percussion at the Berufsfachschule für Musik in Sulzbach-Rosenberg.

    In 2002 he won the 1st prize with his composition "Canned Heat" in the Percussion Solo category of the Percussive Arts Society (PAS) composition competition. In 2003 he won the 1st prize in the same competition with his Marimba Solo "Three Movements for a Solo Dancer" and a 3rd prize in the "Percussion Ensemble" category with his composition "Exploration of Time".

    In 2004 he composed "Night of Moon Dances" for Marimba Solo and Percussion Quartet for the final round of the "International Marimba Competition 2004" in Belgium. In 2006 he published the CD "Night of Moon Dances" with Thomas Lechner, percussionist of the Vienna Symphonic Orchestra. For the "Splash" Percussion Ensemble he composed the work "Marimba Splash" for 2 Marimbas and 4 Percussionists, published in 2010.
