Leah Schuman, trumpet
Leah Schuman has served is Associate Professor of Trumpet at VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, where she has served on the faculty for 16 years. She is an active performer and clinician in the Chicago area, where she recently performed a live broadcast of the music of Leonard Bernstein on WFMT. She has performed with the Chicago Chamber Orchestra, the Illinois Philharmonic, the Southwest Michigan Symphony, and numerous chamber ensembles and solo appearances. She holds the degrees of DMA and MM in performance from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY, a performance certificate from the St. Petersburg (Russia) State Conservatory of Music, and a Bachelor of Music from Northwestern University. She is a former member of the St. Petersburg State Chamber Orchestra and the Colorado Mahler Festival Orchestra and can be heard on commercial recordings of the music of Steve Reich and with the Eastman Wind Ensemble.
